Heating Oil Delivery: How To Prepare Your Home

thumb image

Our delivery crews take great pride in getting fuel to you and the rest of our customers in all kinds of weather conditions – but when Mother Nature is at her worst, we can use a helping hand from you.

When severe weather is forecast, and in the days that follow winter storms, please help keep our heating oil delivery crews safe and productive by making the following preparations in advance of our arrival – particularly during and in the aftermath of severe winter weather.

  1. Clear a path to your fill pipe – Snow, ice, and debris can block the path to your fill pipe, making it difficult for our crews to safely deliver your fuel. Try to keep at least an 18 inch-wide path to your oil tank access point clear so our team can reach it easy and safely. If your home requires our crew to access your driveway to fill your fuel tank, please clear that, too – keeping in mind that our trucks are wider than your car.
  2. Unlock gates – If access to your tank requires our crew to enter through a gate, please make sure it is unlocked on delivery day – or make sure someone is home to let our crew in.
  3. Keep pets under control – We want to deliver your heating oil, but we want to do it safely for both our drivers and your pets. Please be sure your pets are secured on delivery day.
  4. Be accessible – Make sure an adult is accessible on delivery day, preferably by cell phone or in person; If something unexpected happens that needs your immediate attention, or requires you to make an instant decision, our delivery team will need to contact you.
